Understanding Risks & Complications
Combining procedures can increase the likelihood that you will experience a complication because the body will be under greater strain as it recovers. Dr. Berbari takes special care to only combine a number of treatments that can be safely performed at the same time. If you have extensive goals, she might recommend staging your care.
Our team, serving Ottawa, Gatineau, and patients throughout the world, wants you to be wholly confident in your skin, but your health and safety always come first. We will educate you on all the possible risks of mommy makeovers during your initial consultation.
In general, the risks of plastic surgery include pain, infection, bleeding, numbness at the incision sites, scarring, and poor wound healing. If you receive breast implants, you could experience capsular contracture. There is also the possibility that you might be unhappy with your results and feel that they are underwhelming or overdone. As a patient, the best way to ensure the success of your procedure is to choose a reputable surgeon with excellent credentials.
Ensuring Your Safety
Dr. Berbari takes several steps to minimize the risk of complications, including:
Honest Recommendations
Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual. If you express a desire to undergo several surgeries all at once, but the doctor knows it could be risky, she will always be upfront in her recommendation–even when the answer is "no."
Strict Screening Methods
Conditions like diabetes and lifestyle habits like heavy drinking or smoking make it more difficult for your body to heal after surgery. We need you to be in good health in order to give you the green light for undergoing cosmetic treatment.

What to Expect during the Recovery Period
We understand that patients want to know what to expect concerning the length of their recovery period. However, the fact that this treatment can vary so widely from person to person that it makes it difficult to estimate without having a consultation. Full recovery from tummy tuck surgery, for example, can take up to two months with about two weeks home from work. After breast augmentation, most women can return to work after about one week. Once you decide exactly which options are right for you, Dr. Berbari can explain the recovery period in greater detail.
