Cellulaze™ Gatineau

Cellulite is caused by pockets of fat below the skin that create a bumpy or lumpy appearance that many of our patients find frustrating. The condition affects women of all shapes and sizes and can be resistant to weight loss and healthy lifestyle habits.

Women who struggle with cellulite have a new option in treatment. Cellulaze™ is the first FDA-approved machine for the treatment and long-lasting removal of cellulite. Cellulaze™ is now available at the Gatineau office of Dr. Patricia Berbari. Contact our office today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Berbari and learn more about how this treatment can give you a smoother, sleeker appearance.

Why Cellulite Develops

During your consultation, Dr. Patricia Berbari will describe the procedure, risks, and benefits of treatment, and decide which areas of cellulite are appropriate for Cellulaze™ treatment. Cellulite develops when connective fibers that are mixed within fatty tissue create bulbous bumps and lumps beneath the skin. Only women develop cellulite. Men have a dermis skin layer that is thicker and less likely to dimple, as well as crossed connective fibers that leaves less room for pockets of fat to develop.

Women have parallel connective fibers and thinner skin that is conducive to cellulite as well as a higher percentage of body fat to begin with. A woman's natural hormones greatly affect her proclivity for cellulite, so even after treatment for this condition, she will need to closely monitor cellulite development and adjust her lifestyle to keep from redeveloping it.

How Cellulaze™ Works

Cellulaze™ is the only long-lasting, effective treatment for cellulite. In this procedure, Dr. Berbari releases fibers that create cellulite pockets, melts bulging fat cells, and stimulates collagen using heat. This three-pronged approach means women enjoy long-lasting, noticeable results from this treatment.

During the first phase of Cellulaze™ treatment, the SideLaze3D™ laser probe will melt fat cells that have become herniated or begun to bulge. This liquefied fat is gently suctioned out of the incision site or absorbed by the body.

In the second phase, the SideLaze3D™ separates fibers that connect the walls of fat pockets. These string-like tissues, called fibrous septae, are the structures that dimple skin, and create the appearance of cellulite. When they are loosened and the fat bulges are melted, the skin looks much smoother.

In the third portion of Cellulaze™ treatment, Dr. Berbari will rotate the laser fiber to warm the underside of the skin. This stimulates the production of collagen cells, which thicken the skin and increase its elasticity. Thicker, more elastic skin naturally looks younger and healthier. After Dr. Berbari has completed treatment, the tube and laser are removed.

Risks and Side Effects

Cellulaze™ treatment's minimally invasive nature carries few risks. These may include scarring, uneven results, abnormal pigmentation and blistering of the skin. As with any surgical procedure, bleeding, infection, and allergic reaction to medication are also rare, yet serious, risks.

Recovery and Results

For Cellulaze™ to be effective, patients must follow Dr. Berbari's aftercare instructions closely. Women are given a specialized garment to wear and specific dietary instructions to follow for three weeks following surgery. Following aftercare instructions closely is an important step in achieving a woman's desired results.

While it can be repeated, Cellulaze™ is highly effective after just one treatment, keeping skin smooth for years to come. Other cellulite treatments require many treatments and have disappointing results, wasting time and money. Cellulaze™ addresses cellulite at its roots so results are long lasting. Because female hormones can continue to cause cellulite throughout their lives, they should be cognizant of areas that develop cellulite and work to prevent them from developing early.

Common side effects include slight discomfort or pain at the treatment site, which may be mitigated with a prescription medication. Patients may experience some bruising and oozing from incisions. Dr. Berbari provides patients with special compression garments that aid in healing, and the initial recovery from pain and soreness usually takes one to two days. Women can expect to return to their normal activities within one to two weeks after a follow-up consultation with Dr. Berbari. The results of Cellulaze™ treatment will be apparent within a few months and have been shown to last for more than a year.
