What Is Vaginal Rejuvenation?
"Vaginal rejuvenation" is a term that refers to several vaginal corrective procedures that are used for cosmetic, functional, or sexual reasons. Whether your concerns arose due to age or childbirth, the procedures that can contribute to vaginal rejuvenation can address many issues, including:
- Laxity of the vagina
- Urinary incontinence
- Vaginal dryness
- Cosmetic concerns
During your consultation in Gatineau, you can discuss your concerns, goals, and medical history. Dr. Berbari will determine your candidacy for her plastic surgery options and can make recommendations for treatment to improve your confidence, comfort, and sex life.
Which Procedures Can Be Used in Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty surgery uses surgical tools or modern laser technology to correct different concerns, including labia minora that are asymmetrical, disproportionate, or extending past the labia majora.

Labia Majora Contouring
A number of our patients interested in the rejuvenation of the vagina are concerned with the appearance of their labia majora, the outer folds of the vulva. Using targeted liposculpture, Dr. Berbari can safely break up and remove excess fat, creating slimmer, more youthful-looking labia.

Clitoral Hood Reduction
Clitoral hood reduction removes excess tissue to expose more of the clitoris. Benefits of this surgical treatment include enhanced sexual pleasure, decreased irritation, and more attractive genitalia. As a result, women can experience greater confidence and satisfaction in the bedroom.

Monsplasty
The mons pubis, or the soft mound of rounded tissue over the pubic bone, can develop stubborn fatty deposits that are resistant to exercise and dietary modifications. Monsplasty, also known as a pubic lift, by Dr. Berbari uses laser technology to remove this fatty tissue. Monsplasty can be combined with skin tightening to remove excess skin.

Risks & Complications
Like any surgery, vaginal rejuvenation is not devoid of risk. Though rare, risks include:
- Infection
- The formation of excess scar tissue
- Decreased clitoral sensation
- Pain during sex
Dr. Berbari is a board-certified plastic surgeon who prefers a conservative approach to plastic surgery, which can minimize these risks.
Recovery
In most cases, patients can recover from their surgery in about six weeks, but recovery will depend on the vaginal procedures that were performed.
In the days following surgery, patients will be able to walk and move around. Prescription pain medication can be used to ease discomfort and ice packs can help minimize swelling. Patients should be able to return to work in about a week, but will have to put off strenuous activity for about three weeks or more.
Patients should wear loose cotton underwear and put off swimming, sexual intercourse, and tampon insertion for six weeks.
