Sculpt Your Figure with LaserLipo
Liposuction is one of the most popular body contouring procedures available. Dr. Patricia Berbari can use this treatment to remove stubborn pockets of fat from various areas of the body for a more attractive shape. However, the traditional form of liposuction is not right for everyone, especially those with less skin elasticity. Laser-assisted liposuction (or LaserLipo) was designed as a less invasive alternative that can also tighten skin. Dr. Berbari will take the time to explain the unique advantages of LaserLipo during a personal consultation at our Gatineau practice to determine if this approach is best-suited for you. Benefits of LaserLipo
We can use LaserLipo to slim your neck, chest, ankles, arms, waist, abdomen, thighs, and more. When compared to traditional forms of liposuction, LaserLipo offers a range of benefits, including:
- Tightened skin and a minimized risk of sagging and rippling
- Minimized post-surgical bruising
- Smaller incisions, smaller cannulas and less trauma to the tissues
- Less pain
- Can be done under mild sedation
- Less downtime and rapid recovery
In addition, patients typically heal much faster from LaserLipo than traditional liposuction.
The Procedure
We will begin your LaserLipo procedure by administering local anesthesia to ensure your comfort. After creating tiny incisions, Dr. Berbari will insert a small tube (known as a cannula) and special laser probe into the treatment area. She will then use the probe to deliver powerful, precise pulses of light that will break apart fat deposits so they can be gently suctioned out through the cannula. Then the laser is directed to the dermis and this will stimulate collagen production to tighten the skin over a period of three to six months. Once she has achieved the desired results, Dr. Berbari will remove the devices and close your incisions. This full procedure can typically be completed in less than two hours.
After undergoing a LaserLipo treatment, you will be advised to rest for two to three days before returning to work or school. In addition, you will need to wear a special compression garment for roughly three weeks. The compression garment is designed to hold your tissues in proper position during the healing process. You should experience continued aesthetic improvements and firmness of your skin as time passes, and the full results should become apparent after several months.
Risks and Complications
Most patients who undergo LaserLipo experience very minimal side effects. However, there are still some potential complications associated with this procedure, including:
- Mild bruising
- Mild pain and swelling
- Numbness in the treated area
- Slight contour irregularities
In addition, you can greatly minimize LaserLipo risks by choosing a highly skilled and experienced surgeon like Dr. Berbari to perform your treatment.
